Pearls of Bohemia

Czech Repulic

8 days / 7 nights – 6 biking days

Guided group tour or Self-guided individual tour

Length 240 km / 145 miles

Grade of difficulty: Moderate
This route combines road without traffic, paved path as well some short off-road sections. Also profile includes all from long flat section to some rolling hills. On Self Guided option you should be able to cycle up to 60 km in a day with some up hills. Although there are not any long steep ones.

The route of this tour leads through three of the most attractive towns of the Czech Republic. Due to their exceptional cultural and historical value, these towns have been recorded in the UNESCO Cultural Heritage List. In Renaissance Telc, where our bike tour begins, you will have the chance to admire the renowned square and castle with its royal garden. Cesky Krumlov is recorded on the UNESCO list as the best preserved medieval town in the whole of central Europe. It is the home of the second largest chateau in the Czech Republic with a uniquely preserved Baroque theatre, royal garden and open-air theatre with a revolving auditorium. The historical centre of Prague has become the most visited town in Europe following the fall of Communism. In addition to these three UNESCO towns, you will spend nights in Jindrichuv Hradec, the seat of the region’s administration, and in the Renaissance town of Trebon, a famous spa resort. Both towns have a millennium-long history, Renaissance chateaus and many other Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque monuments. The route will take you through České Budějovice, the town that gave its name to Budweiser beer. You will certainly not want to miss the opportunity of tasting the beer in its hometown, where it has been brewed for over 600 years. After a tour of the city we will ride the remaining 12 km to Hluboká Chateau. The bike trail ends at Hluboká chateau from where you will travel in the AVE minibus back to Prague. We have planned for you to stay for two nights in Cesky Krumlov, in order to give you sufficient opportunity to relax and to get to know this jewel in tourist crown more intimately.

The tour will take you through many diverse landscapes. Sometimes you will have to conquer hills, which will be replaced by flatlands around rivers and ponds. The itinerary is designed to be a gentle ride with a balance of cycling and sightseeing. Take it easy, take your time, it is your holiday, after all!

Testimonials

Read what the participants of Ave cycling tours think about their experience.

Our bike tour came to an end. Everything was very good, we highly enjoyed the trip in a very beautiful region of Tsjechië.
I have still your Garmin gps. I have given it to the reception of Bischops Hotel for your attention.
Thank you very much for the very good organization,
Best regards from the whole group,
Dirk Meganck, Belgium 2019

We are back at work, after some wonderful days biking in your lovely country. I would only like to say thank you for a very well organized trip. We had no worries and no problems during our trip. Everything went smooth and as planned. I had one small problem with my bike - the side-support broke (it was bent when we started), but that is a microscopic detail. All hotels were excellent, but we would like to mention pension Thir in Tabor and cyklopension Kaspar in Jindrichuv Hradec as memorable. We have taken the liberty to recommend your company to our friends on social media.

We will certainly return to the Czech Republic, and hopefully use your company again.

Øyvind and Marta, Bohemian UNESCO, Self Guided tour, 2017

We are ready to book our biking trip with AVE in june 2017, The Unesco-tour with extra days.
We are requesting your services because we have now used four different biking companies organising our trips the last four years - in your country, Ireland, from Vienna to Budapest and another trip in Tsjekkia. AVE is the best biking organizer we have encountered so far! Best regards

Øyvind Glosvik and Marta Strandos, Norway 2017

The must use bike tour firm for CZ. Just finished one of the tours and you can be confident in Vlastimil and his team to take care of your plans. We received good bikes, transportation was reliable, and even many hotels are owned by AVE which helps to coordinate your trip especially around Prague. I've done many self-guided and guided bike tours, as well as doing my own planning, and they work with you in customizing your bike trip to meet your schedule. Thanks to the crew at AVE. Ron

Ronald Bailey, Self Guided tailor-made tour, 2016

Riding through the forests of Bohemia and beautiful countryside was a truly memorable experience. Tours of some beautiful castles were also included. Accommodation and meals were of a good standard, not to mention the excellent Czech beer. A support vehicle met us every 10kms or so to provide water and occasional snacks, and we had the option of riding in the vehicle to the next stop if it rained (it didn't) or we needed a rest (seldom). Morning and afternoon stops were made for coffee etc. (sometimes beer!) at taverns along the way. Good mountain bikes were provided at low cost, and I could not praise our tour director and his assistant enough.
