The Islands of Southern Dalmatia

The Islands of Southern Dalmatia

Island Hopping (from/to Trogir)

8 Days/7 Nights, approx.175 km

This boat & bike tour through Southern Dalmatia will take us past unique little towns and through the beautiful island world. Experience the islands of Brač, Korčula und Šolta as well as the beautiful lavender island of Hvar. Stroll around Hvar town with its mighty fortress and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere in the artist’s town of Stari Grad. The UNESCO world heritage cities of Trogir and Split will add to the highlights on this tour and inspire with their incredible history. Try a variation of local specialties on your journey, especially the local wines also referred to locally as ‘gods drop’.

This tour is occasionally offered parallel to the mountain bike cruise in Southern Dalmatia on the same boat. In this case one tour guide will cycle with the mountain bikers while the other will accompany the hybrid cyclists.

Parallel to some of our Southern Dalmatia tour dates we are also offering our Southern Dalmatia PLUS tour with one of our first-class ships Princeza Diana or Melody. On this tour E-bike- and hybrid bike rides are conducted parallel – the itinerary is similar. Therefore the PLUS tours would be the perfect alternative if the desired tour date on the regular tour is already fully booked or if you are looking for a tour on an even more luxury boat. Ask us for details.

Culture: The Palace of Diocletian in Split is an excellently preserved relict from ancient Roman times.
[B]Nature:[B] The wide lavender fields of Hvar are the special experience, in particular in the months of May and June.
Activtity: A rafting tour on the Cetina River guarantees fun for young and old
Culinary: A special pleasure for our sweet friends are the paper-thin Palačinken, mostly served with marmelade or chocolate.
Souvenir: The honey from our beekeeper on Šolta is very tasty and the perfect gift!

Day 1 - Trogir (Embarkation) – Split

Individual arrival by car to Trogir or by plane to Split airport, which is about 3mi./5 km away from the harbor of Trogir. After check in on the motor yacht between 2 and 2:30 pm the first cruise starts about 3 pm from Trogir to Split. The old town of Split, built into the famous palace of the Roman Caesar Diocletian, is listed as a world heritage site. Overnight stay in Split.

Day 2 - Island Hvar (aprx. 12.5 mi./20 km)

In the morning cross over to the lovely natural harbour of Stari Grad on the island of Hvar. Our afternoon cycling tour on the Island of Hvar leads us through the quaint harbor towns of Jelsa and Vrboska. We start off through the vinyards on the famous ‘Stari Grad Plains’ and continue along a picturesque coastal road through the town of Vrboska, a.k.a. ‘small Venice’ to the harbor town of Jelsa. Afterwards we return to Stari Grad for our overnight stay.

Day 3 - Islands Hvar and Korčula (aprx. 14 mi./22 km)

Today’s tour leads us along the almost traffic free pass road through nicely set small villages to the islands capital, Hvar, where we visit the magnificent Renaissance Square and enjoy the view from the Spanish Fortress, situated high above the city. After today’s tour the boat takes us to the Island of Korčula. Overnight stay in Vela Luka.

Day 4 - Island Korčula – Makarska (aprx. 23 mi./37 km)

Today we discover the island of Korčula by bicycle. The calmness and remoteness of the vast vegetation and cypress gardens have given the shape to the probably most beautiful Dalmatian island. Our cycle tour leads us via the village of Blato, like Rome build on seven hills, and on to the harbour of Prigradica. The boat awaits our arrival at lunch and we set off for Makarska. If the weather permits we will organize a swim stop in a nice bay. The evening can be enjoyed along the famous Makarska Riviera.

Day 5 - Makarska – Omiš (aprx. 27 mi.44 km)

A short boats crossing during breakfast to Omis. Today you have the choice between taking part on a bike tour around the Cetina Canyon or participating on a rafting excursion down the Cetina River (not included in the tour price). The bike tour takes you once around the outskirts of the canyon with great views over the river and back down towards the sea. The rafting group will be picked up from the boat by a bus and are taken up river to the starting point. From here we follow the river downstream in the rafts gaining a unique perspective of the canyon and its flora and fauna. Participants of the rafting trip are brought back to the boat in the bus after the activity. In the afternoon we have time to explore Omis or to go for a swim at the nearby beach. The night is spent in Omis.

Day 6 - Islands Brač and Šolta (aprx. 20 mi./32 km)

Today we cruise to the island of Brač, which is famous for its radiant, precious limestone that was, among others, used for the White House in Washington or the Reichstag building in Berlin. From the picturesque harbor town of Pučišća, home to one of the most famous masonry schools in Croatia, our bike tour takes us to the neighboring town of Postira. From here, we board the boat and cruise to the island of Šolta. Here we can take part on a 4.5km hike with a visit to the local beekeeper Goran along the way. Goran has worked with bees his whole life and they are his true passion. He teaches of their importance in the world and allows all of his guests to try the delicious bee products that he makes. We spend the night in the harbor of Rogač on Šolta.

Day 7 - Šolta Island - Trogir (aprx. 12.5 mi./20 km)

In the morning we prepare for our last bike ride to Mount Marjan. A popular recreational site for the residents of Split, which offers fantastic views of the city and the surrounding islands. Afterwards we board the ship and enjoy the last crossing to Trogir. There is still plenty of time to visit the Old Town, listed as a World Cultural Heritage site. The last evening aboard our ship is celebrated in traditional fashion. While enjoying the communal dinner in a celebrative atmosphere we will have the chance for a last get-together with our crew and tour guides.

Day 8 - Trogir (Disembarkation)

After breakfast disembarkation until 9 am and individual trip home or extended stay in Dalmatia/Croatia. Would you like to see more of Croatia than Dalmatia? Then we recommend our extension program at Plitvice Lakes in combination with Zagreb (please see extended stay).

Profile / Map

The cycle tours require at least basic level of fitness from participants, which they should have acquired from steady cycling. The tours will take us up to a height of 200 to 650 m above sea-level. The day-tours from 12 mi. to 37.5 mi. (20 to 60 km) will take us through hilly and mountainous terrain and will be completed without any time-constraints. Participants will also need to master long and steep climbs, during which they are, however, also permitted to push their bicycles. We traverse mostly asphalted roads, which are rarely traveled on outside the holiday seasons. You are free to set aside a half or full day to swim or spend on board the boat, instead of taking a planned cycle tour.

We believe that only children in a good physical condition and with a minimum age of 10 and previous bicycle tour experience are able to master the cycle tours on their own strength. Please note that the minimum height for a rental bike is 1.20 m (4 ft.). There is a helmet duty for all children up to age 16 in Croatia.

Boat - accommodation

Comfort Boat KAPETAN JURE (all cabins with shower/toilet)
At 27 x 7 m the Kapetan Jure built in 2000, counts as one of the smallest ships of our Croatian fleet. With an impressive 100 navigated tours she entered the Islandhopping history book. The fine detail etched into the wooden ship mirrors the seafaring affection of its captain. The spacious salon is decorated with shells, amphorae and showcases full of sailor’s knots. At the bow a mermaid keeps watch for the safe navigation of the ship. The Kapetan Jure provides 15 cosy guest cabins each with air conditioning, shower and WC. A spacious living room suite on the quarterdeck and a sundeck with cushioned sleeping mats play a part in contributing to the welcoming atmosphere.

Premium Boat ROMANTICA (all cabins with shower/toilet)
At 32 x 7.6 m the Romantica was launched in 2007 and is a shapely two mast motor yacht which combines seafaring romance with the spirit of the age, style and comfort. One of the most important things for the captain is the smart appearance of his ship. Both salon and exterior have upscale facilities with a lot of fine details: the salon tables are decorated with noble intarsia, the corresponding benches are covered with precious, sun yellow leather. The large sundeck on the Romantica offers plenty of space to settle back and enjoy the sun.

Premium Boat SAN SNOVA (all cabins with shower/toilet)
At 31 x 8 m the MS San Snova is our most modern wooden motor yacht launched in 2009 and was made exclusively for Islandhopping cruises. This ship, constructed entirely of oak, was built by the Serka family over three years in their own carpentry as a family project. The wooden boarded salon spreads a cosy atmosphere accentuated by the various outdoor lounging areas and the meadow of sunning mats on the top deck. The 14 spacious guest cabins are air conditioned and fitted with shower and toilet. The crew and the captain care for an immaculate appearance and a fun loving atmosphere on board the ship.

The tour which you have booked requires a bike with a fully functional set of gears. We can offer you high quality, fully serviced rental bikes perfect for the terrain of this tour.

Should you, however, wish to bring your own hybrid or MTB with you, please make sure to check the condition of your breaks, gears, and tires and don’t forget to bring along a puncture repair kit and the essential spare parts for your bike (e.g. brake pads and tubes). Your bike should be in perfect mechanical working order.

We do not allow private e-bikes on board of our boats. This decision has been made due to health and safety regulations. If you wish to ride an e-bike for the duration of your tour, please get in touch with us about the rental options.
We do not recommend bringing along private road bikes, as the thin tires are not suitable for some of the road surfaces encountered on the tours.

E-bikes are available to people of 150cm+ (in cases of bookings for people smaller than 150cm, please let us know).
